Agenda: 2024 KPMG Global Transfer Pricing Forum

Transfer pricing is one of the top issues for business leaders, tax administrators and policy makers. It is important we navigate the future of Transfer Pricing together. We are delighted to invite you to attend the 2024 Global Transfer Pricing Forum, immediately following the 2024 KPMG EMA Tax Summit. We will open with a welcome on Thursday, 6 June, and follow with our program on Friday, 7 June.

With anticipated transfer pricing announcements expected to result in groundbreaking changes, increased rigor in tax authorities' approach coupled with the focus on evidence-back assertions made in transfer pricing documentation, statistics unsurprisingly show a continued rise in transfer pricing disputes. This is the backdrop tax departments and leaders face while being challenged to increase efficiency and do more with less. During this year’s Forum, we will discuss:

  • How companies can reshape their transfer pricing strategy in response to increased tax authority challenges and global tax reform
  • Enhancing transfer pricing compliance with automation to make your processes and technology future ready
  • Fresh approaches to navigating controversy and developing dispute resolution strategies

The 2024 KPMG Global Transfer Pricing Forum will help empower you to explore where you are, where you want to be, and the opportunities you have as a transfer pricing function.

We look forward to welcoming you to London.

      Demystifying DEMPE

Despite the release of updated OECD guidelines on Intangibles and DEMPE, disputes over transfer pricing related to intangibles and control of risk persist. Tax authorities are honing in on intangibles, particularly in the subject of value creation. They often emphasize the execution of DEMPE functions and risk management to advocate for a larger portion of an MNE Group's profits. In this session, our panelists will explore the implications of control of DEMPE decisions and functions within their group and how different tax authorities may perceive this to generate taxable profits.

It’s 2024 and transparency is real, what are the practical implications?

As the demand for data transparency coincides with increasing tax complexity, there is a heightened focus on utilizing technology to implement, monitor, and report transfer pricing policies. Whilst incomplete data pulled together manually and delivered late can have far reaching adverse implications, with the rise in reliance on AI how much confidence and trust can we place in the outcomes it produces. Data continues to be a focus for tax authorities, there are data requirements stemming from Public CbCR and Pillar One and Two. This session will outline opportunities to create pragmatic, streamlined focus on data and possible automation solutions.

Transfer Pricing around the world – increasingly controversial

In 2024, tax scrutiny and transfer pricing disputes are the prevailing issues. Controversy surrounding Transfer Pricing, whether it's related to intangibles, service charges, or business models, stems from intricate economic circumstances. Organizations lacking robust transfer pricing face heightened scrutiny from tax authorities, external auditors, and regulatory bodies. These audits not only consume significant resources but are also costly and time-consuming. During this session, we will hear how different tax authorities are approaching controversy and how companies can best protect themselves from audits.
