Staying safe in Singapore

A Message from KPMG Global Security

The overall travel security risk rating for Singapore is LOW; it is considered to be one of the world's safest business destinations. While violent crime is rare, petty crime such as bag theft and pickpocketing are common in crowded public areas, particularly in the central shopping belt along Orchard Road.

Terrorism remains a low risk amid strong governmental counterterrorism capabilities.

Social unrest and strikes are uncommon, and street demonstrations pass peacefully.

The following are recommended precautions:

  • Do not carry anything in plain view that might be considered of value.
  • Be careful when in night clubs and entertainment areas as they are locations with higher crime rates.
  • Carry a copy of your passport and visa with you at all times.
  • Be mindful of local laws prohibiting jaywalking, littering or spitting in public.
  • Familiarize yourself with the hotel’s emergency exit locations and routes.
  • Immediately contact the police (999) or fire/ambulance service (995) in the event of a security or medical emergency.

A note on information security when traveling abroad:

  • When using personal computers, smart phones, and other digital devices, use caution when deciding to use personal password-protected sites as they may not be secure.
  • Keep your devices locked in your hotel room safe when not in use.
  • When returning home, reset all personal passwords used while abroad.

Security and Medical Assistance

All attendees should coordinate any urgent medical or security situation with one of the KPMG event staff.

  • Receives push notifications for those alerts right to your device
